A Crimson Spring Reviews
This is a very ambivalent piece of work: Highly ambitious, with an interesting plot, moody graphics and music from the author's own band - but also a little unpolished.
But - to the meat: On first glance, it is a mystery game. Your girlfriend has been murdered, and you have nothing better to do than to find out who did it. BUT: You're a superhero.
Sounds silly? Even more so - it is a superhero game, but a serious or 'noir' one. You'll get to know the backsides of being an Avenger of Justice, you'll dive right into a dark world with ignorant cops, street life, and human (and superhuman) weaknesses.
On top of that, you'll get nice handcrafted graphics (yep, interactive fiction with visuals) and a full soundtrack with original songs from Rob Sherwin's own band (a little noisy / 'garage' style sometimes, but that's just a personal opinion).
So, overall: Impressive, touching, immersive. Just some little quirks: There are some annoying typos, there are some objects in descriptions that are not in the scene at all, and sometimes you have to try a couple of times until you find the right verb. But apart from that - great.
But - one remark: In the original version, this is not a Windows game. I don't want to spend points just to check this version, but if you download and start to wonder how to run it: You'll need the HUGO interpreter (a small, multiplatform program for running IF games) for it, which you can find at http://161.184.245.22/public/t essmand/gcc/hugo.html
