Scorched Tanks Reviews
The one, the only, Scorched Tanks. There are plenty of wannabee's, Scorched Earth, Pocket Tanks... the list is endless. But there is only one. Let me tell you way:
Scorched Tanks is one of the best implementations of the artillery game since the ancient Macintosh fortress game. The premise as with most great games is simple: you are a tank. Your opponent is a tank. Shoot each other. Every hit, every kill gives you more money to spend to help you defeat opponents in the next round. Doesn't that sound exciting? Just you wait and see!
First off, you have numerous weapons that operate wildly different. Your basic shell is nice and cheap, but there is nothing like a MegaNuke to really get your opponent. There are rolling weapons, tracking weapons, ballistic weapons, lasers, guns... just about every weapon worth mentioning in other lesser versions of this game is here.
Secondly, you don't have to sit there and take the punishment! Scorched Tanks allows you to use shields (which aren't in most other versions). There is your standard damage eating shield, a magnetic shield, even a shield that will return the weapon to its launcher.
Between the weapons and the shields lies a good deal of strategy. Some shield can be bypassed, and some weapons are completely innefective. All of this 'strategerie' goes on against (for the time) a pleasing backdrop, with deformable terrain, and cute death animations. The music is classic amige mod file quality, and sets the mood very well. The controls are simple, but the game doesn't suffer from that. If you can get Scorched tanks to run, you will be in for hours of addicted slavering. Should you have trouble with it I will point you to:

This version was coded in the spirit of Scorched Tanks, though it isn't nearly as complete. Should you download this game, I have one thing to say: Enjoy.
