Hello,

As some people know, this forum will have many changes soon. It'll have its own new domain, which is http://oldgamersclan.net. The new board is not yet setup, and you won't find anything of interest there for now.

I won't give full reasons of that change, but only the things that will actually change for you as end-users wink.gif :

* New forum engine, more modern and useful that this old vb2 board
* Changes in the crew, there will be now a crew for the site (mainly validators) and a crew for the community (forum). The Community crew will be lighted to make crew closer to regular members.
* Site and forum stays linked on some points, but forum will open new sections, about old games generally speaking and not only abandonware. However, non-abandonware won't be provided as downloads of course. Generally speaking, the Community part won't provide any abandonware or non-abandonware downloads, but may provide extras (patches, fixes, etc...)
* All crew discussions are now public, since now, to avoid the split between crew and non-crew. The only sections which stay private, for now, are one about members to watch and another about warn logs.
* There is absolutely no timeline for the change, all questions about this will be ignored.
* You will keep your registration date, post counts, posts, threads, and all forum related things.
* Point system may change or diseappear. The only sure thing is it'll change a way or another since i believe it doesn't fit like it is.
* Crew is frozen until changes occur, except for really needed changes. A list of the current crew is listed below :

Changes sound interesting. Just one question: Is only the forum moving to the new domain or the whole thing namely mainsite and forums?

ps. nice teaser pic rolleyes.gif

Just forum. Basically, while Christian will own and manage the site part, I'll own the forum and community part, which i believe is more interesting (while it doesn't earn a cent wink.gif ). (and, probably, continue to deal with most site issues anyway since Christian seems to busy to do so)

They stay linked in mind since anyway, we'll talk about abandonwares and old games. One difference, for example, will be that we won't talk only about OG abandonware games, can be also HOTU or others. That'd just officialize a situation which was anyway existing for a while. Support will be extended to non-abandonware games, but we just won't provide such games ourselves.

Teaser pic wasn't dedicated to this domain, it's a general one i use for any new domain wink.gif

I made a first shot of the new forum trying a SMF forum (phpbb2 being too old, and phpbb3 not going to be released soon, i'll avoid this option).

There are plenty of problems in the vb2 database, so it may take some time since i need to repair this database first, which may be not a fun time ... smile.gif

There are a few things sure now :

- Board will be a SMF, not a phpbb as i planned first.
- The changes will occur before end of May.
- Posting won't earn points, because of technical reasons and to limit spam in forums. Therefore, the only way to get points will be reviewing games and writing hints, cheats or guides.
- Along with previous statement, that means points will be kept. (another way would have been to reset points and make a new clean ranking, but i don't believe points bring anything good on a forum).

More infos soon wink.gif

Most of the games on OG already have cheats, guides, hints etc. due to the outstanding work of patty, Tinoco and others.

Or is there a new database of games that is being established?

--------------------
This site is apparently broken and no one cares anymore about the site. I tried to contact the admin but he has not responded to my PM dating from October 2009. so if you came here and hoped to download a game, I'm sorry to say that you just wasted 5 minutes of your time. Downloads and Forums are not working anymore and I'm no longer part of the crew or neither an active member.

If you are looking for a specific game and don't know where to find it, you may try this abandonware-search-engine that works very well:

Not planned at the moment, but i doubt using points-for-posts brings anything else than spam. In fact, as you guessed and know if you were there a long long while ago, i am not really fond of that whole point system smile.gif ...

... like it is now, at least wink.gif

EDIT : (proof being that most ranked members are not the more participative forcingly) wink.gif

I know, I know wink.gif

We could extend the discussions to more recent games (I would support this) but...there are already tons of it around the net and it wouldn't fit into the new domain rolleyes.gif

edit: gee! Da Boss has a Point... *g*
edit: gee! all traces have been deleted *g*
